V.B Rajendra Prasd. A film maker and director

V.B Rajendra Prasad

Born in an Agriculture family of village DOKIPARRU, Krishna District on 4th November 1932 for Jagapathi Chowdary and Lakshmi Narasamma. Grown up under the guidance of his grandfather Mr. Ramaswamy Garu. He has one elder brother Mr. Krishna Prasad. Had his basic education in DOKIPARRU and he was very poor at studies in his child hood because of his ill health, he was suffering from Asthma. So he couldn’t able concentrate more on his studies. Because of his ill health the education got affected so temporally there was halt in his education, so his father wanted to shift him to PAMURRA, a nearby village to DOKIPARRU and joined him in 4th class in that village and continued his education there in PAMURRA. So somehow managed his studies in that village and completed 10th Class and while studying in this village he heard about Kakinada which is called Andhra Paris and he had an intention to have his Higher education in Kakinada, for that he attended the Entrance test conducted by some college and he got selected in that Test and he joined his intermediate in Kakinada. In his school day he was very passionate about the Politics. So he participated in student union elections and won the Elections and he became the Student Union leader while he was in his first year intermediate.

P.R.College is known for its cultural activities which got applaud from the huge audience over the years. When he was the student president for the same college they invited Mr. NATARAJA RAMAKRISHNA who is very well known for his classical Dance in Andhra and organised a program and everyone got impressed with the performance from Mr. Ramakrishna. VBR was very Good Yoga teacher and he use to perform Yoga’s at each and every function organised by the college. After seeing the performance from Ramakrishna VBR has small thought in his mind that why can’t he perform in the stage as an artist. So with that intention he started a cultural organisation called “RAGAHAVA KALASAMITHI” with the partnership with his co student Mr. EDIDA NAGESWARA RAO who is well known producer of that era. So VBR started his career with this organisation as a stage artist performed in Dramas Directed by Athreya and D.V. NarasaRaju who were very famous on those days. His first break as a Drama Artist was through the Drama KUPPULU where he played a Lady role. This gained him lot of fame and name as an artist and most surprisingly he got Best Heroin Award for that role and received the award from MR. GOPALASWAMY who was then Vice Chancellor for Andhra University. From that RAGHAVA KALASAMITHI created its own brand and craze among the Andhra Audience. Then hundreds of Dramas and stage shows were performed through that organisation and VB became very well established artist over the years.

In 1953 he got married to Smt. Vasundara Devi. After his marriage with the suggestions from his elders he started the cement Business in Vijayawada with the just capital of 5000/- with four partners. So it ran for sometime but the outcome of that business was very less because we were four partners that time. So it was not even sufficient to pay the house rent in Vijayawada. So one day his father called him and asked him to quit that business and continue his agriculture in his village. So forcefully accepted that and I felt it’s a Good option than struggling for food in Vijayawada. So he was looking after their lands in his village and it was very difficult to go to farm in the winter season because of his ill health. So his father asked him not to go to farm because of his health conditions and asked him to go to BANDARU (now Machilipatnam) and look after the Rice Mill there. So again shifted himself to Bandaru. Again the same health problem because of the Dust coming out of the Mill. So again jobless then he started thinking about his career. Suddenly as a flash he recollected one instance where he met Mr. AKKENENI NAGESWARA RAO and expressed his interest in acting movies. Then ANR suggested him to concentrate on his studies and asked to meet him after his Degree. So with that spark he presented his idea of acting in movies to his brother and his brother took the same idea to his father and after 4 days he got a call from his father and his father accepted his request and gave him 50,000/- to go to Madras to flourish his dream of becoming Hero.

He shifter to Madras in 1958, with an intention to become a Hero and he struggled a lot for the offers in the movies. Even though ANR helped VBR and introduced D. MADHUSUDHAN RAO Garu, VBR was not offered Hero role by any Producers. Then ANR suggested him to back out the intention of becoming hero and asked him to dub the movies from other languages to Telugu. He debuted as Producer with ANNAPURNA and V. Madhusudhan Rao was the Director for that movie, JAGGAIAH and JAMUNA played the Lead roles in that Movie. Even though movie got Good response from the audience, the collections were very less. He made a series of Good Family oriented pictures with ANR, SHOBANBABU, NAGARJUNA etc... So for he has produced around 25 Movies in Telugu, 3 movies in Tamil and 3 Movies in Hindi under Jagapathi Arts Banner. VBR has directed around 13 Movies in Telugu, 3 movies in Tamil and 3 movies in Hindi. He was awarded with Raghupathi Venkayya Award.

He initiated the construction of 11 Temples in the Daiva Sannidhanam temple in film Nagar, Jubilee Hiss, Hyderabad.

The exterior of the Charminar is its most beautiful part, surrounded by a thriving market. There are four magnificent arches known as Char Kaman situated near Charminar.
